Our Commitment – GOTS Certification

When you turn over the tag on an everyday item of clothing or a towel today, you’ll almost always find the word “sustainable” or “eco” on it. But for many brands, it’s just an empty label. At Pamukia, we play by different rules. Our unwavering commitment is to the world’s strictest textile certification: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), under the auspices of the independent authority Ecocert.

Obtaining and maintaining this certification takes a great deal of effort, money, and paperwork. So why do we do it? Because it’s the only way we can guarantee complete transparency with a clear conscience.

What does our GOTS commitment mean for you in practice?

  • Absolute purity from seed to seam: Our cotton isn’t grown in a chemical environment. From cultivation in the fields and spinning the fibers to the final stitching of a bathrobe or bath towel, no toxic pesticides, heavy metals, formaldehyde, or chlorine are used. The result is a fabric that’s completely safe even for the most sensitive skin, including that of allergy sufferers and newborns.
  • No spot checks, but rigorous audits: Every step in our supply chain is regularly inspected and traced. This makes it virtually and legally impossible for our organic cotton to be mixed up with conventional, chemically treated cotton.
  • Respect for people (fair play): GOTS monitors not only environmental standards, but also human rights. It guarantees that people at our partner family-run weaving mills in Turkey work in a safe environment, without forced or child labor, and receive fair wages.
  • Protecting water and nature: Cotton for our products is grown and processed with the utmost consideration for local ecosystems. Water is treated and returned to circulation, with no exploitation of the land or chemical pollution of groundwater.

An investment in quality that makes sense

When you buy GOTS-certified products, you’re not just treating yourself to the luxurious softness of premium cotton. You’re supporting a system that doesn’t destroy the planet or exploit anyone.

I believe that the things that come into contact with our skin should be pure inside and out. That’s my personal commitment at Pamukia.
